The Finance Department
encompasses the areas of Accounting,
City Budget, Payroll,
Investment Management, Purchasing,
Utility Services, City Audit,
Master Fee Schedule, Assessment
Districts, and Financial Reporting. |

Accounting |
| |
The Finance Department is responsible for processing and
recording financial activities of the City in compliance with generally
accepted accounting principles. These include various GASB statements, which set forth
detailed requirements for city governments. We also comply with all local, state, and
federal laws in order to aid management, council, residents, and other
interested parties in making sound financial decisions. |

City Budget |
| |
Our department assists the City Administrator in the
preparation of the proposed City Budget and Capital Improvement Program.
Specific duties include the preparation of revenue forecasts and the
analysis of departmental budget requests. The annual City Budget is on file
for review at the Chowchilla Civic Center.

Master Fee Schedule |
| |
The current City of Chowchilla's
Master Fee Schedule (PDF) is in effect as of October 1, 2012. The
City maintains one fee schedule with each department's individual fees
included. If you have a question about a particular fee, please contact the
appropriate department. You may also contact us

Payroll |
| |
Bi-weekly payroll processing for the City's full-time and
part-time employees is coordinated through this department. Direct Deposit
services are available for City employees. |

Investment
Management |
| |
The Finance Director, as Treasurer,
invests the City's unused funds. The City's monies are generally invested
in the State Local Agency Investment Fund, Treasury Bills, and Federal
Agency Securities that offer considerable safety, liquidity, and variety. |

Purchasing |
| |
In conjunction with the City Administrator's office, the
Finance Department monitors department purchases to ensure competitive
bidding procedures are utilized and to ensure quality products and services
are obtained in an economical manner. |

Utility Services |
| |
The Finance Department is responsible for utility payment and
billing transactions. Utility services include water, storm drain, sewer,
and solid waste. Click here

The Finance Department is responsible for preparing financial
statements to be audited and to provide sufficient information and data for
the auditor to express an opinion on those financial statements.

Assessment Districts |
| |
The Finance Department assists the City Administrator and
other departments in the management and financial oversight of the
Assessment Districts of the City of Chowchilla. |

Financial Reporting |
| |
The Finance Department is responsible for the preparation of
all financial reports which are prepared for the City Council, other
departments, and the State of California. These may include internal
reports, budget reports, audited financial statements, and reports of
financial transactions for the California State Controller.
