The Chowchilla Civic Center is located at 130 S. Second Street at Civic Center Plaza. The Chowchilla Civic Center officially opened to the public on Tuesday, July 11, 2006. The Civic Center houses Administration and the departments of Administrative Services, Community and Economic Development, and Finance. Chowchilla Area Transit Express (CATX) is also based at the Civic Center. All public city board meetings are held in the Council Chambers at the Civic Center. | The Chowchilla Civic Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. *weekdays with walk-in service hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Civic Center is closed on federal and state holidays and mandated furlough days. *Effective July 2010 - Due to budget issues, City offices will be closed every Friday until further notice. | |

Utility bills are mailed during the last week of the month
(look for current community information in the City newsletter - also
enclosed). Bills are due
by the 19th of the following month unless the 19th falls on a weekend or
furlough/closure date, then
the bill is due the following Monday.
The service charge for late payment of municipal utility service bills shall be subject to a 10% penalty. Interest charges of 1 - 1 1/2% per month will also be applied for each additional month of non-payment of the charges and basic penalty. Delinquent bills that remain unpaid 10 days past the delinquency date may be subject to water service disconnection and a reconnection fee. Accounts that have been disconnected will only be reconnected when all fees are paid or other arrangements have been made (CMC Sec. 13.16.060). If you are unable to pay this bill, please call us at (559) 665-8615, ext. 783 or come to the Finance Department in the Civic Center to discuss payment arrangements (CMC Sec. 13.16.060). |

| Solid Waste (Garbage) Services | |
|
The City of Chowchilla has a franchise agreement for solid
waste (garbage) and recycling services with Madera Disposal Systems who provides
service to the residents of
Chowchilla. For questions about your service, call them at (559) 665-3099. To
make payments, sign up or close out services, visit the Civic Center during
business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) or use the provided drop slot on the
front of the building.

A City-wide cleanup event is held the third Saturday of September every year, where Chowchilla residents are provided with free curbside pickup of trash and other debris. At various times there are Household Hazardous Waste Collection Round-Ups for items such as paints, chemicals, batteries, motor oil, and electronic items like TV's, stereos, computers, etc. Call us at (559) 665-8615, extension 305 for further information. |
