Citizen advisory groups research, study and discuss specific issues with both short and long-term implications, forwarding their recommendations to the Council.

Commissions and committees are formed to assist the City Council in making critical policy decisions that impact the community. These groups research, study and discuss specific issues with both short and long-term implications, forwarding their recommendations to the Council. Citizen input is essential to the success of local government.

The City of Chowchilla believes citizen feedback is essential to providing and maintaining quality services to the community. Our citizens are our top priority! To meet their expectations, citizen advisory groups, called boards, committees and commissions, are formed to assist the Chowchilla City Council in making policy decisions that impact the community. These citizen-driven groups research, study and discuss specific issues with both short and long-term implications, forwarding their recommendations to the city council.

hose interested in applying for a position on one of the citizen advisory groups may contact the City Clerk's office at Chowchilla Hall, 130 S. Second Street, (559) 665-8615, ext 112. You can also send an email to CityClerk@CityofChowchilla.org.

Applications are reviewed annually and are considered whenever a vacancy occurs on one of the advisory groups.

AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Responsibilities
The Airport Advisory Committee serves as an advisory body on policy matters relating to the operation, management and planning for the Chowchilla Airport.

Responsibilities
The Heritage Commission advises on matters related to historic structures/resources in addition to policies and practices pertaining to preservation of Chowchilla's landmarks.

Planning COMMISSION

Responsibilities
The Planning Commission is responsible for formulating recommendations regarding the orderly development of the community as it relates to zoning and land use. This commission reviews and recommends amendments to the Chowchilla General Plan, Zoning and Chowchilla Municipal Codes, and subdivisions and neighborhood development plans.

Membership Requirements
Must be a registered voter in the City of Chowchilla. Please note that application for this committee requires a financial disclosure statement (Statement of Economic Interests - Form 700) under State of California laws.
