  CAMPUS RESOURCE PROGRAM

The Campus Resource Officer (CRO) concept was introduced to Chowchilla in 1998 through a cooperative effort between the Chowchilla Police Department and local school districts.

Currently, our department has one Campus Resource Officer. Officer Manuel Ramirez serves at Chowchilla Union High School. Due to personnel changes, no assigned CRO will be on site at the campuses of the  Chowchilla Elementary School District however police department staff continues to work closely with the elementary school district.

The goals of the CRO Program are to ensure that our school campuses are safe environments for learning and to increase positive interaction between youth and the police department.

In cooperation with school staff, our Campus Resource Officer attempts to provide alternative solutions for our youth when they are faced with a problem. The CRO works closely with MADNET, MADGET, and school personnel to keep the influence of gang activity and drug use low among our high school age students.

Our Campus Resource Officer goes the extra mile by being involved with our youth. Officer Ramirez volunteers for and coaches various sports in the community and takes a proactive approach to deter youth away from gangs and drugs.
